The Mariko Necklace is the second edition of The Artist Series, created as an exploration of friendship, connection and the bonds we carry through life.
Two strands of lapis lazuli and smoky quartz intertwine with one another, forming a continuous loop that symbolises the enduring connection between two people. A freshwater pearl sits within each strand in turn — a quiet representation of two friends holding and carrying a part of one another.
Finished with sterling silver findings and clasp, the Mariko Necklace is handmade to order in Australia.
Created in collaboration with artist and writer Yasmine Ganley of Anyone Girl, the Mariko Necklace is accompanied by an original poem written by Yasmine. Each necklace includes a printed, postcard-sized edition of the poem — a small piece of the collaboration to keep alongside the necklace.
A limited-edition release, once sold, the Mariko Necklace will never be made again.

The Mariko Necklace was created with friendship in mind — one to keep, and one to give.
When two Mariko Necklaces are purchased together, each necklace carries the freshwater pearl on a different side. One rests within the lapis lazuli, the other within the smoky quartz — two individual pieces that become connected through the person you choose to share one with.
A quiet reminder that friendship is reciprocal: of holding one another, carrying one another and remaining connected, wherever life takes you.

At Vermeer Studio, our jewellery is handmade with the intention of lasting through generations, provided it is worn and cared for with attention.
EVERYDAY CARE
Avoid direct heat, sunlight, water and physical activity. Keep away from chlorine, perfumes, lotions and cosmetics. Prevent scratches by avoiding abrasive surfaces and contact with other metals.
STORAGE
Store pieces separately in their pouch or box, in a cool, dry place, to prevent tangling, scratches and tarnish.
CLEANING
Gemstones & pearls: wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth; avoid soaking, harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.
Gold & silver: polish lightly with a jewellery cloth.
Some pieces can be customised by length or findings, with sterling silver and gold options available on select styles. Customisation options are listed on each product page where available.

Craftsmanship
Traditional jewellery-making methods, shaped by a modern approach. Each Vermeer Studio piece is crafted with care in our South-East Queensland studio. Our process honours techniques passed down through generations, brought together with carefully chosen components and considered finishing details.
Considered Materials
We work with natural gemstones, freshwater pearls, timber beads, sterling silver, solid gold and gold-filled components, alongside hand-cast sterling silver pieces made in-house. Our designs are woven onto leather, cotton or durable, high-strength nylon cord, with each material selected for its quality, character and wearability.
Quiet by Design
Vermeer Studio pieces are designed without external logos, tags or unnecessary adornment — allowing the materials, form and craftsmanship to speak for themselves.
Made to be Kept
Every Vermeer Studio piece is designed with longevity in mind. Should your piece need care over time, it can be returned to us for repair.
Included With Your Order
Each order arrives thoughtfully packaged in a Vermeer Studio linen pouch, designed to store and protect your piece when not being worn. Inside, you’ll also find a brand card and jewellery care instructions to help preserve your piece over time.
