FAQs

Our jewellery is handmade to order in our Australian studio. Please allow 5–20 business days for your piece(s) to be made and dispatched. Most orders are made and shipped within 7 business days, however during particularly busy periods, production times may be longer.

Most Vermeer pieces are handmade to order in our Australian studio. Ready-to-ship pieces will be clearly noted on the individual product page and are often available during peak shopping periods, such as Christmas.

Vermeer jewellery is designed in Australia, handmade to order in our South-East QLD studio. Each piece is individually assembled and finished by hand using carefully selected materials sourced from Australia and around the world.

A small selection of our gold and silver pieces are handmade in Italy. This will always be clearly noted on the individual product page.

If you need your piece by a particular date, please contact us before placing your order. While we cannot always guarantee a shorter production time, we will do our best to accommodate your request where possible.

Yes. We work with natural gemstones and freshwater pearls, which means each one is unique. Variations in shape, size, colour, texture and markings are inherent to natural materials and are part of what makes each piece individual.

Each Vermeer piece is handmade using natural materials, so subtle variations between pieces are to be expected. Pearls and gemstones can differ slightly in shape, colour, texture and markings, and their appearance may also shift depending on natural or artificial light. These variations are part of the individual character of each piece rather than imperfections.

The length of each necklace is listed on its product page, along with imagery showing how it sits when worn. We recommend comparing the listed measurement with a necklace you already own, or using a piece of string or measuring tape around your neck to determine where the necklace will sit.

Yes. Most necklace styles can be adjusted by up to 2cm shorter or 2cm longer at no additional cost. You can enter your preferred custom length directly on the product page when ordering.

If any additional cost applies, our Customer Care team will be in touch before your order is made to confirm.

We recommend having your finger professionally measured by a local jeweller where possible, as this provides the most accurate result. Alternatively, you can refer to our Ring Size Guide and measure an existing ring that fits the intended finger. Please keep in mind that sizing can vary slightly depending on the width and style of the ring.

As our rings are made to order, they are unable to be returned or exchanged due to incorrect sizing, so we recommend confirming your size carefully before placing your order.

We ship all orders with Australia Post. For international parcels shipped with Australia Post: Once your order has arrived in the destination country, you can track the parcel through your local postal service.

In many cases, yes. As our jewellery is handmade, we can often repair or restore a piece depending on its condition and the availability of the original materials. Please contact us with your order details and clear photographs of the piece so we can assess the repair and advise on the next steps. Repair fees may apply depending on the nature and age of the piece.

If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and clear photographs of the item and packaging. We will assess the issue and work with you to arrange the appropriate repair, replacement or resolution.

Jewellery Care
At Vermeer Studio, our jewellery is handmade with the intention of lasting through generations, provided it is worn and cared for with attention. To enhance the longevity of your pieces, we advise the following practices.

EVERYDAY CONSIDERATIONS & PRECAUTIONS

  • Avoid exposing your jewellery to direct heat and sunlight to prevent harm.
  • Always remove your jewellery before entering water, engaging in physical activity, or bathing. Exposure to chlorine in pools and hot tubs can lead to significant damage, including discoloration, erosion, and increased fragility, resulting in potential breakage.
  • Minimise your jewellery's contact with perfumes, lotions, and cosmetics as these can hasten tarnishing and congest settings and links.
  • Prevent scratches and damage by avoiding friction with abrasive surfaces and contact with other metals.

STORAGE
Store each piece of jewellery separately in its original packaging, in a cool and dry environment to avoid scratches, tangling, or tarnishing.

CARE & CLEANING
Regular cleaning and polishing are essential to maintain your jewellery’s shine and check for any signs of wear and tear.

For cleaning gold or silver jewellery, wipe it gently with a jewellery cloth. Using the cloth's cleaning side first for dirt, then the polishing side for shine.

Coloured gemstones should be delicately cleaned with a damp, soft cloth and mild detergent, avoiding harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners to prevent damage or cracking.

Pearls are quite resilient, yet they are susceptible to damage from many chemicals found in cosmetics and perfumes. To maintain their lustre, it's advisable to gently wipe pearls with a cloth lightly dampened with water.

REPAIR & REPLACEMENT
At Vermeer Studio, we are dedicated to the satisfaction and care of our customers. Should you encounter a fault with any of our jewellery pieces, repair and replacement options are available in accordance with your protections under Australian Consumer Law.

Please note that normal wear and tear or damage due to not adhering to our care recommendations are not covered under these provisions.

It’s worth appreciating that, over time, all jewellery, regardless of its type, will naturally bear the marks of daily life and gather unique markings, serving as a testament to the life it has shared with you. This evolving character underscores the inherent beauty of jewellery made to last, reflecting the enduring journey of its wearer.
